Zoo, Russ' twelfth album, was released on September 7, 2018, and debuted at number four on the US Billboard 200. Shake the Snow Globe, his fourteenth studio album, was released on January 31, 2020, and peaked at number four on the US Billboard 200. In addition to his solo work, he is a member of Diemon, an Atlanta-based music collective.
Russ declared on June 30, 2020, that he has ended his contract with Columbia Records and is now an independent artist. On November 17, 2020, he released Chomp, an EP. Among others who appear are Black Thought, Busta Rhymes, Benny the Butcher, and Ab-Soul.
Russ announced a new EP, Chomp 2, as the followup to last year's Chomp on November 18, 2021. Russ My Way Inc. published the project on December 8, 2021.
