Nigerian forces kill ISWAP leader, Sani Shuwaram
Sani Shuwaram, the chief of the Islamic State's West African Province (ISWAP), has died, according to PRNigeria.
The ISWAP Shura (Judicial) Council installed the 45-year-old as the next Wali (Head) in Lake Chad in November 2021.
Shuwaram and other terrorists were killed in Borno State's Marte Local Government Area after aerial bombardments.
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) used Super Tucano jets to launch missiles at a number of ISWAP hideouts.
Shuwaram was said to have died of gunshot wounds sustained at the sect's encampment in the Sabon Tumbun area of Lake Chad.
"Shuwaram was one of the terrorists injured by NAF air interdiction raids near Kirta Wulgo at Sabon Tumbun.

"Subsequent strikes resulted in his death, along with the treatment of other ISWAP fighters, including Abu Ibrahim," a military officer confirmed.
Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, NAF Director of Public Relations, said air and ground troops have maintained their military attack around Kirta Wulgo.
"We don't want to be dragged into making a statement or confirming something based on rumors or hearsay."
"However, forces on the frontlines, along with other agencies, have continued to hit terrorist commanders and their enclaves until we finish the job," the official added.
