Janesa Jaida Barrett, professionally known as Nessa Barrett, is an American singer and songwriter who has released a new track titled "Tired of California."
In "Tired of California," Nessa laments the unhealthy lifestyle of the Golden State and longs to flee. A famous tune from Suzanne Vega's "Tom's Diner" is interpolated into the chorus.
In 2019, Nessa Barrett rose to notoriety on the video-sharing app TikTok. In July 2020, the singer launched her music career with the release of her piano-based ballad debut single "Pain."
Nessa Barrett's debut single was published immediately after she signed with Warner Records, after the label saw video of her singing on TikTok and reached out to her.
With the release of her second song "If U Love Me" in October 2020, Nessa Barrett plans to embrace a "dark, punk rock type of feel."

Nessa Barrett and collaborator Jxdn, together with Barker, played the tune live for the first time on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on April 7, 2021, and again on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on April 12, 2021.
Barrett released "Counting Crimes" on June 25, 2021, a song described by Barrett as "about moving on from something terrible with an empowered bad bitch spirit." Recognizing that you have made mistakes, but that the other person has done worse, and determining who is truly the bad guy in the circumstance."
Nessa Barrett announced her debut EP, Pretty Poison, on the Zach Sang Show in July 2021. The EP, which comprises seven new songs, was published on September 10, 2021.
Barrett said the goal of World Suicide Prevention Day on September 10, 2021 is "to illustrate that there's faith behind everything and that everyone is able to be joyful whenever it's right for them."
In August 2021, Nessa Barrett's single "I Hope Ur Miserable Until Ur Dead" debuted at number 88 on the US Billboard Hot 100.
