From his upcoming fifteenth studio album, "King's Disease III," Nas drops the new single "WTF SMH."
Nas, then 49 years old, released King's Disease III on November 11, 2022, featuring seventeen brand new tracks.
Nas began his musical career in 1989 under the name Nasty Nas after he had recorded demos for Large Professor. He was born on September 14, 1973.
Illmatic (1994), Nas's debut album, was met with immediate critical acclaim and is now widely regarded as one of the finest hip hop albums of all time; it was added to the National Recording Registry by the Library of Congress in 2021.
Nas's second album, It Was Written (1996), debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and stayed on the chart for four weeks; the album and its single "If I Ruled the World (Imagine That)" (featuring Lauryn Hill) propelled Nas to international fame.
Nas's lyrical skill has been compared to that of Rakim, and he has been commended for his ability to create a "devastating fit between rhymes and sound" by journalist Peter Shapiro.
In 2014, Nas was named one of About.com's "50 Greatest MCs of All Time," and in 2015, he was named one of Billboard's "10 Best Rappers of All Time."
If you check out The Source's ranking of the Top 50 Lyricists of All Time, you'll see that Nas ranks second on the list. Nas was named the number four "Hottest MC in the Game" by MTV that same year (2013).
Illmatic, Nas's first album, is universally hailed as a classic in the history of hip hop.
Nas has released fifteen studio albums since 1994, with ten of them going gold, platinum, or multi-platinum in the United States, including the most recent, "King's Disease III."
