Meghan Trainor, an American singer-songwriter, has released a new single named "Made You Look" off her fifth major-label studio album, "Takin' It Back."
Meghan Trainor collaborated with producers such as Stint to make the album, which was released on October 21, 2022. Scott Hoying, Teddy Swims, Theron Theron, Natti Natasha, and Arturo Sandoval are among the artists included on the album.
Musically, Meghan Trainor's second major-label studio album, Title, sees her return to the doo-wop style of her first (2015). On June 24, 2022, the lead single, "Bad for Me," was released.
Meghan Trainor praised the material she was creating for her third major-label studio album as her "greatest work yet" in March 2018. The underperformance of its earlier singles caused her to lose faith in the idea.
Its release was delayed numerous times because Meghan Trainor revised it four times in order to "adjust to what's going on in the music business." In January 2020, Treat Myself was released to mixed reviews. Later that year, she released the Christmas CD A Very Trainor Christmas.
Meghan Trainor's kid was born in February 2021. Her 2014 single "Title" went viral on the video-sharing app TikTok, which affected the style she chose for her fifth major-label studio album.
Meghan Trainor stated in May 2021 her plan to return to the doo-wop sound of her maiden major-label studio album, Title (2015), on it. "The people have spoken, and I hear you," she said, adding that motherhood made her a stronger lady and a more emotional songwriter.
Meghan Trainor returns to her characteristic doo-wop sound with Takin' It Back. The album's themes concentrate around the impact of her pregnancy and "how it's hard and [she is] not flawless all the time." And [she is] coming to appreciate it."
Meghan Trainor called the tracks "huge, powerful tunes that mean a lot." "It's like Title 2.0," she said. It's my old school, true to myself in all the crazy genres I listen to, but yet current with some doo-wop thrown in. The lyrics are stronger than ever, and the celebration continues."
The title Takin' It Back was inspired by the happy sensation Trainor had after Mozella told her that other musicians wanted to replicate her style, which was the first time she had felt since penning "Dear Future Husband" (2015). As a result, Trainor created the album's title tune about "returning to the good music when they had actual instruments."
"Relatable lyrics, a reggae bop, a Latin hit featuring Natti Natasha, and, of course, some Trainor-styled choruses" are included. The song "Made You Look" was inspired by her anxieties about her body image following her pregnancy, as well as a therapist-requested exercise in which she looked at herself naked for five minutes.
"Don't I Make It Look Easy" is about Trainor's responsibilities as a new mother, and it includes lyrics about posting on social media for added relatability.
The song "Mama Wanna Mambo," which features Natasha and Arturo Sandoval as guests, was inspired by Perry Como's 1954 smash "Papa Loves Mambo." It's about women wanting to take a dancing break while caring for their children, a topic she believed would appeal with TikTok moms.
Meghan Trainor posted an episode titled "Workin' On Making An Album" on Workin on It, a podcast she co-hosts with her brother, dedicated to the album's creative process, on May 11, 2022.
The following month, Meghan Trainor began previewing "Bad for Me" as the album's debut single. Teddy Swims, an American singer-songwriter, provided guest vocals for the song, which was published on June 24, 2022.
It was written by Trainor, Ajay Bhattacharyya, and Stephen Wrabel and produced by Stint and Frederico Vindver about a poisonous relationship. "Please don't make promises you can't keep/ Your greatest intentions end up hurting me/ No matter what, I love you forever," the lyrics say.
Meghan Trainor gained to notoriety after signing with Epic Records in 2014 and releasing her breakthrough single "All About That Bass," which peaked at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 list in the United States and sold 11 million copies worldwide.
Meghan Trainor has four studio albums with the label and has garnered several awards, including the Grammy Award for Best New Artist in 2016.
Meghan Trainor had an interest in music at an early age, and she composed, recorded, and produced three independently released acoustic albums, Meghan Trainor (2009), I'll Sing with You, and Only 17 Years Old (2010).
In 2013, Meghan Trainor began composing and producing songs for other singers. Trainor released her major-label first studio album, Title, in 2015, which featured the top-10 songs "Lips Are Movin" and "Like I'm Gonna Lose You" and debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200.
The song "No" lead her follow-up album, the R&B album Thank You (2016), both of which charted at number three.
Meghan Trainor's third Epic album, the electronic dance music-influenced Treat Myself (2020), was made as an attempt to adapt to current musical trends. Later that year, she released the holiday album A Very Trainor Christmas.
Meghan Trainor's songs usually feature themes of women, body image, and personal strength, however they have been called antifeminist or regressive at times. Her music is influenced by 1950s popular music and combines pop, R&B, doo-wop, and blue-eyed soul.
