Free Your Mind by Made kuti—Made plays all of the instruments on "Free Your Mind," which features a mesmerizing rhythm and lyrics preaching consciousness emancipation. "'Free Your Mind' is very much inspired by the teachings I received from my father and his efforts to make me understand exactly what the black man and woman's situation in Nigeria, Africa, and around the world is," Made explains. To truly "free your mind," one must be critical. It means to use your mind to its maximum capacity—to think, to seek answers, and to ask the right questions.”
The release of "Free Your Mind" coincides with the start of Felabration, as well as Fela's birthday, which would have been his 82nd.
Made spoke out in support of anti-police brutality protests and the #ENDSARS movement currently taking place across Nigeria, continuing his family's tradition of speaking out against societal oppression. He and his father joined protesters in the streets, demanding justice.
