During Thursday's plenary session, the budget size comprised 51 percent recurring spending and 40 percent capital expenditure, scaled into the third reading until its final passage. It was updated upwards from N134.9 billion to N137.6 billion, reflecting a rise of 2.2 percent.
The appropriation bill was signed into law by the House after the House Finance and Appropriation Committee's recommendation on the spending plan was considered by the Supply Committee and put before the House.
In presenting the paper, the chairman of the committee, Ibrahim Ambali Olatunji, shared the expectation that the proper execution of the budget would turn the state's economic fortunes around.
He observed that in order to enhance the well-being of the residents, the state government has taken adequate steps to tap into its internal capital. Olatunji echoed the determination of the legislature to assist the executive through the House standing committees' constant monitoring roles on capital projects to ensure accountability.
House Speaker Engr Yakubu Danladi Salihu instructed the House Clerk, Hajia Halimah Jummai Kperogi, to create a clean copy of the appropriation bill for the approval of the governor.
