Karol G's music has been categorized as reggaeton and Latin trap. However, throughout her work, she has dabbled with a range of other genres.
Ocean by Karol G includes a wide spectrum of aesthetic experiments. She collaborated with the Brazilian duo Simone & Simaria on the Spanish/Portuguese song "La Vida Continuó," which contains sertaneja influences.
Karol G cites Beyoncé, Selena, and Shakira's global appeal as major influences in her work and the level of global recognition she aspires to.
Backstreet Boys, Christina Aguilera, Ivy Queen, Anah, Thala, Spice Girls, Jerry Rivera, The Bee Gees, and Red Hot Chili Peppers are among her other inspirations.
