The horrific shooting at a Texas elementary school on Tuesday (May 24) left many people heartbroken and enraged, including John Legend, who directed his wrath towards Sen. Ted Cruz and chastised him for his "idiocy" in the wake of the unimaginable tragedy.

"Dear God," the Get Lifted singer wrote in a series of tweets. The folly. There will be no gun reform. Ted Cruz's "Just door reform" was posted atop a video of Cruz's news conference on Wednesday (May 25), in which Cruz stated that the senseless crime may have been avoided if the back door to Robb Elementary School had been shut.

The father of two also had comments for the NRA when the senator subsequently added, "We need to respond by hardening school security and recruiting armed police officers to keep our kids safe." "Evil nonsense," says the narrator. For the NRA and its acolytes like Ted, the answer is always the same: we need more firearms. Rather than dealing with the problem, they'd want to "harden" our schools. "We already have the world's most guns," Legend wrote. "The National Rifle Association (NRA) represents gun manufacturers. They're counting on you to acquire more weapons. Their response will remain to ramp up the civilian arms race. They have a lot of blood on their hands F**k the NRA."

"I can't comprehend why any Texan would want this slime coward representing such a proud state," Legend said of Cruz. The NRA has given Cruz over $176,000 in campaign contributions, despite the fact that Texas has over 3,100 gun-related deaths every year.

Salvador Ramos, the alleged shooter, who turned 18 last week, lawfully purchased two AR-15 military-style rifles and 375 rounds of ammo after his birthday. He posted on Facebook that he was going to target an elementary school after killing his grandmother in the face. The catastrophic shooting claimed the lives of 19 children and two adults.

Legend's tweets are listed below.
