On at about 12:42:02 PM, Gilla Band - Gushie was updated.
The new tune "Gushie" by the Irish post-punk and noise rock band Gilla Band is off their album "Most Normal."
The band formed in 2011, and its members are Dara Kiely (vocals), Alan Duggan (guitar), Daniel Fox (bass), and Adam Faulkner (drums).
After releasing the 2012 single "In My Head" and the song "You're a Dog," they began to attract fans in Ireland and the United Kingdom to see them perform live.
After the success of the track, the band released the live EP France 98 through Any Other City, which they had produced themselves.
Next, Gilla Band covered "Why They Hide Their Bodies Under My Garage?" by techno artist Blawan, which increased their popularity and fan base and led to a short tour of the United Kingdom in April 2013.
Gilla Band, formerly known as Girl Band, signed to Rough Trade Records in December 2014 after releasing a string of limited 7" singles on Any Other City records throughout the year.
In order to "enable what [the band] was doing [at the time] on a greater scale," label founder Geoff Travis attended multiple performances before offering them a record deal.
Gilla Band was given free reign to record their own albums. In September 2015, they unveiled their self-produced debut album, Holding Hands With Jamie, through Rough Trade.
Gilla Band dropped their first new single in four years, "Shoulderblades," in June of 2019. After "Going Norway" in August of 2019, a second single named "Going Elsewhere" was released. These tracks are taken from the band's second album, The Talkies, which was released on September 27 via Rough Trade.
An unconventional use of effects-laden guitars, abstract stream-of-consciousness lyrics, and stylistic borrowings from techno and industrial music all contribute to the album's repetitious and experimental sound.
The album has been called noise rock and post-punk, and its gloomy, unsettling atmosphere has been praised by critics.
The group announced their new name, Gilla Band, in November of 2021. The group claimed that their old name "may have been fostering a culture of non-inclusivity" and that they changed it because it was "misgendered."
Music critics praised the band's debut album. "This Irish four-piece yells at you from the very start, an unbroken series of thumping, smashing tracks peppered with distorted, imagistic lyrics," the Guardian raved.
Kiely's vocal performance "certainly sounds convincing," Rolling Stone said. But he doesn't appear embarrassed by it either; rather, he seems to have made a disturbing point of pride out of his fish-belly skin and concave abs. The band was compared by Rolling Stone to Liars and Nick Cave's Birthday Party.
According to drummer Adam Faulkner, the band doesn't listen to "most of the bands we get compared to." Bad Brains, James Chance and the Contortions, Neu!, and The Chemical Brothers are just a few of the bands that have influenced the band.
Gilla Band has thus far produced a number of singles and EPs, the critically acclaimed album Holding Hands with Jamie (2015), and, following a hiatus in 2016–2017 due to health difficulties, the techno and glam rock infused The Talkies (2019).
