Vice President Yemi Osinbajo is the Chairman of the Ad Hoc Committee on Civic Participation of the National Economic Council (NEC). On Thursday, Osinbajo chaired the first 2021 NEC meeting.

It was attended by governors, ministers, the Governor of the Central Bank, and other top government officials. In his remarks, Osinabjo said that NEC will embark on commitments focusing on the growth of capital, social security networks, and employment, education, the digital economy, sports production, creative industries, hospitality, security, and governance.

NEC participation members will be selected from the following communities of young intellectuals and potential business leaders from a range of industries. Others include students from tertiary and other educational establishments, youth involved in socio-political trends in the diaspora, entertainers and social influencers, skilled craftsmen, etc.

Male and female youth leaders in civil society organizations, politics, religious organizations, formal institutions, and young people with disabilities can also be involved.
