How much money does Drake have?

Drake, a multimillionaire Canadian rapper, actor, and producer, was born in Toronto and now lives in Los Angeles. It's no secret that Drake is a well-paid performer. Drake was a child actor on the Canadian teen drama Degrassi: The Next Generation before he became a massive rap superstar. Drake has earned more than $430 million in his career before taxes and lifestyle costs since he first gained mainstream success.

In the period from June 2017 to June 2018, Drake made a total of $45 million in earnings. He made $95 million last year. He made $75 million from June 2018 to June 2019. He made $50 million in the following year. For a detailed breakdown of Drake's annual earnings, year by year, see the table below. Drake Wins $1 Million Bet On Golden State Warriors

Contract with Universal Music Group

A "long-term worldwide partnership" that included "recorded music to music publishing, film, television and brands" was confirmed by Universal Music Group on its Q1 earnings call in May 2022. In a few of his songs, Drake has hinted at this deal. Among his many songs, "360 up front" was a reference to a record deal he had signed. Universal's statement has led some to believe that this lyric means that he was paid $360 million upfront. The deal's value has been estimated at $400 million or more by other sources. Prior to signing, Drake's music catalog generated $50 million in annual revenue for the company.

If the deal was indeed worth $400 million, Drake would have received an upfront payment of $200 million after taxes, assuming the deal was indeed worth $400 million.

Childhood

In Toronto, Canada, Aubrey Drake Graham was born on October 24, 1986. Dennis, Drake's father, was a drummer who performed with artists such as Jerry Lee Lewis. Sandi, Drake's mother, worked as an English teacher and a flower shop owner in the Los Angeles area. As a child, Drake went to a Jewish day school and celebrated his Bar Mitzvah.

When Aubrey was five, Sandi and Dennis divorced. His father moved to Memphis, where he was arrested and imprisoned for a long period of time on drug charges. His mother remained in Toronto, but he would visit his father in Memphis every summer (when his father was not incarcerated). Despite Dennis' vehement denial and assertion that the claims were embellished to sell records, Drake later described Dennis as being absent from his childhood, which Dennis has vigorously denied.

Drake and his mother lived in the lower half of a two-story townhouse in Forest Hill, an affluent suburb of New York City, from sixth grade onward. Drake lived in the basement, while his mother lived on the ground floor. They didn't have a lot of money, in fact, it was scarce.

Drake discovered a love for acting and singing while a student at Forest Hill Collegiate Institute. While attending high school, he was subjected to racism and religious bigotry at Vaughan Road Academy. For a time, he was absent from the university, but he returned and graduated in 2012.
Degrassi

An acting agent's father introduced Drake to the long-running Canadian teen drama "Degrassi: The Next Generation" when Drake was just 15 years old. Jimmy Brooks, a high school basketball star who was left paralyzed after being shot by a classmate, was played by him on the show. Seasons 1 through 7 included him as a cast member, with occasional guest appearances in 2008.

In the midst of Drake's Degrassi appearance, his mother fell ill and was unable to work. For several years, their sole source of income was his Degrassi salary. He was making $50,000 a year from the show at the time. After taxes, that's about $2000 a month. He would later say the following about this time period:

"When my mother was in the hospital, she was in a critical condition. We were practically penniless at the time. My only source of income was from watching Canadian television."
A Life in Music

Taking a cue from the likes of Jay-Z, who found success as an independent artist before signing with a record label, Aubrey began putting out mixtapes in 2006 under the alias "Drake."

A mixtape entitled "Room for Improvement" was released in February 2005 and can be downloaded from his website or from his official MySpace page. Directly, he was able to move more than 6,000 copies. Comeback Season" was his second mixtape, released in 2013. October's Very Own, his own label that he just started, released the mixtape (aka OVO Records). As a result of the release of this mixtape, the song "Replacement Girl" became an underground hit. For the first time, an unsigned Canadian rapper's music video was shown on BET. Brisco, Flo Rida, and Lil Wayne's "Man of the Year" was sampled in one version of the song.

Rap-A-Lot Records founder and Houston-based producer Jas Prince heard the song and gave it to Lil Wayne. Lil Wayne called Drake and invited him to join his Tha Carter III tour in Houston. The duo collaborated on a number of songs throughout the course of the tour, among them "Brand New," "Forever," and "Ransom."
Music by Young Money

Drake had not yet signed a contract with Wayne's record label, contrary to popular belief. In 2009, he released "So Far Gone," his third mixtape. On his OVO website, he made the mixtape available for free download. Lil Wayne, Lloyd, Trey Songz, Omarian, and Bun B all appeared on the mixtape. The RIAA awarded the mixtape Gold certification after it was downloaded 2000 times in the first hour and peaked at #2 on the Billboard Hot 100. He later released an EP that debuted at number six on the Billboard 200 and won a Juno Award for Best Rap Album in 2010.

A few years after the release of his debut album, Drake's popularity had skyrocketed in the music industry. As a result of the bidding war, various labels were scrambling to secure his services. "The biggest bidding war in music history" has been referred to, but that hasn't been confirmed.

The Young Money Entertainment label that Drake joined on June 29th, 2009 signed him to a deal. Young Money and Cash Money's parent company, Universal Music, worked together on the record deal, which was a joint venture — Drake's Net Worth as at 2022 till date.

Success in the Mainstream

"Thank Me Later" was Drake's first studio album, released on June 15, 2010. A number one album in Canada and the United States. US Billboard Hot 100, R&B/Hip Hop, and US Rap all ranked it number one. The RIAA eventually awarded it Platinum status.

"Take Care," his second studio album, debuted at the top of the charts in several countries and eventually became a six-time platinum seller.

There have been no albums released since then that haven't been certified at least four times platinum.

Drake is one of hip-hop and the music industry's most influential and successful artists. In addition to Kanye West, Eminem, Jay-Z, and Travis Scott, he has collaborated with a slew of other big names in music. Numerous awards have been presented to Drake. He's been nominated for and won more than 40 Grammys by the time of this writing, and he currently holds a record of more than 180 major awards.

Drake performs for an average of $1 million per show.

Sales of Singles

Unlike any other artist, Drake has sold the most digital singles ever. He has sold more than 163 million digital singles as of this writing. There are 40 million more than Rihanna, who is second. With an estimated 26 million albums sold, he ranks as the 80th best-selling musician of all time. That places him behind Shania Twain (48 million) and Celine Dion as Canada's all-time best-selling musician (50 million).

For the past four years he's been residing in the palatial mansion he bought for $7.7 million in cash from former owner of the Saddle Ranch Bar in Los Angeles, Hidden Hills, California, where he was born.

To be known as the "YOLO Estate," this property features multiple residences including the main house (which measures approximately 12,000 square feet), as well as the smaller party house (which measures approximately 1,200).

Equestrian stables, a 25-person movie theater, a full-sized basketball court, and an enormous private pool are just some of the amenities on this sprawling estate in Los Angeles.
Lagoon-like pool features multiple waterfalls, a swim-up bar with an 80-foot water slide, and Playboy-mansion style grotto in the shape of a waterfall.

For years, Drake had his eye on this mansion after searching "craziest residential swimming pools" and seeing this as one of the results, according to a Rolling Stone interview.

For years, he used a picture of a swimming pool as his computer's background image.
In 2009, the house was listed for $27 million by its previous owner. Drake purchased the property for $7.7 million in 2012, when the previous owner was in a financial bind.

He purchased a neighboring 1.6-acre estate for $2.8 million in 2015, allowing him to increase the size of his property.

In 2018, he spent an additional $4.5 million to buy another neighboring house, further extending the property. With the acquisition of an additional $15 million in real estate, his private estate has grown to 6.7 acres at the end of a cul-de-sac.

For $22.7 million in March of 2022, Drake put the YOLO Estate on the market. For $14.8 million, a buyer could also get the primary mansion and nothing else.=

In 2016, Drake paid $6.7 million for a piece of land in the Birdle Path section of suburban Toronto. On the two-acre property, he built a 50,000-square-foot mansion. The house has a 10-car garage, a basketball court the size of an NBA regulation, a gym, an awards room, and many other features. 3,200 square feet in the master bedroom is a lot of space.

The 20-acre Beverly Hills mansion of British singer Robbie Williams was reported to have been sold to Drake on March 8, 2022. How much did Drake pay for an off-the-shelf transaction? At least $70 million, a source told the Los Angeles Times.

Also, he owns an apartment in downtown Toronto. Real estate assets owned by Drake total at least $100 million in total.

The use of a private plane

This Boeing 767 private jet has been dubbed and painted "Air Drake" by Drake in a video posted on Instagram in May 2019. Rapper Drake claims in the video that he owns the jet outright, saying that he has "no rental, no timeshare, no co-owners." It would cost $75 to $100 million for a private jet of the same model and quality.

Drake's Career Highs and Lows

In November 2009, Drake was added to Celebrity Net Worth with a value of $1 million. Just a few months prior, he had signed with Lil Wayne's Young Money label.
By the end of 2012, he had a fortune of $25 million. A year later, he had earned $45 million. He made his first $80 million in late 2016. Thanks to his incredible near-$100 million earning 2017, he easily topped $100 million by early 2018. His net worth crossed the $150 million mark for the first time in May of this year.

Ventures into the Business World

To name a few, Drake has been an ambassador for Sprite, Burger King, Whataburger, Nike, and Apple in recent years. An exclusive $19 million contract was signed when Apple Music was launched. This agreement allowed Apple to be the first place to get Drake's solo albums.

Warner Bros. Records distributes Drake's record label, OVO Sound, which he founded in 2012. Artists like PartyNextDoor, Majid Jordan, Kash Doll, and more are currently represented by OVO Sound, in addition to Drake and other well-known producers like Boi-1da, Future the Prince, and Mike Zombie.

The Toronto Raptors consider him their "global ambassador," and he hosts an annual Drake Night with the team as part of that role.

Virginia Black, Drake's own bourbon-based whiskey, was released in 2016. After launching, the company sold 4,000 bottles in its first week. The company shipped an additional 30,000 units later in the year.

Tours

It was the "Away From Home Tour" in 2010 that marked Drake's debut as a headliner.

In 2019, he'll embark on a further five headline tours. Co-headlining four tours, including his 2018 tour with Migos, is also a part of his résumé.

His "Summer Sixteen Tour" in 2016 raked in $84.3 million from 54 shows, making it the most successful hip-hop tour to date. Those concerts averaged $1.56 million in revenue.
In 2018, he and his Migos co-headlining tour brought in $80 million over 43 shows. Concerts bring in around $1.86 million in revenue on average.

Every summer, Drake hosts the sold-out "OVO Fest" festival in Toronto. The XS Nightclub in Las Vegas, where Drake has a regular residency, can easily bring in $500,000 for a single performance by Drake. For a more formal concert, he now makes more than $2 million.

Life at Home

Over the course of his career, Drake has had a number of high-profile relationships. He had a brief relationship with Rihanna from 2009 to 2016.

A few months after their wedding, he would describe Rihana as "the woman that has been in my heart since the age of 22."

Adonis was born in October 2017 to a French model, actress, and artist named Sophie Brussaux. It wasn't until 2018 that Drake revealed he was a father for the first time.
