Anitta released the song "Girl from Rio" in April 2021, which was billed as the album's title track at the time, but she and her team opted not to release the album that year.
On April 1, 2022, Anitta revealed the album's new title, release date, and cover art, as well as the fact that she would explain her reasoning for the cover and that she "liked" that it was "creating debate," which she stated was her intention — Boys Don’t Cry song by singer Anitta.
