On at about 06:30:32 AM, Alvvays - Tom Verlaine was updated.
Alvvays, a Canadian indie pop band, has released a new song named "Tom Verlaine" from their third studio album, "Blue Rev."
The album, which was released on 7 October 2022 by Polyvinyl and Transgressive, has fourteen (14) tracks from the band.
Blue Rev was revealed on July 6, 2022, in conjunction with the release of the lead song "Pharmacist." On August 10, 2022, the second single, "Easy On Your Own?" was released.
On September 22, 2022, "Belinda Says" and "Very Online Guy" were released as a double single.
"Pharmacist" combines the band's distinctive indie-pop sound with noticeable shoegaze elements, such as guitar distortion and Molly Rankin's "dreamy" vocals.
Pitchfork's Quinn Moreland linked the song to My Bloody Valentine's Loveless. Alvvays wrote all of the songs.
Molly Rankin (vocals and guitar), Kerri MacLellan (keyboards), Alec O'Hanley (guitars), Abbey Blackwell (bass), and Sheridan Riley formed the band in 2011. (drums).
Alvvays' self-titled first album, published in 2014, topped the college charts in the United States. In 2015, Alvvays began recording and composing their second studio album.
Several new original songs were played in 2014 and 2015, including "Your Type" (typically the show's opening song), "New Haircut" (later retitled "Saved By A Waif"), and "Hey." In 2016, they added "Not My Baby" and "Dreams" to their set list.
Following the inclusion of new tracks like "Plimsoll Punks" in live concerts in spring 2017, Alvvays released a teaser clip for a song named "In Undertow" off their second album, Antisocialites.
New songs for this album included "Already Gone," "Forget About Life," "In Undertow," "Lollipop (Ode to Jim)," and "Saved by a Waif," in addition to tunes performed at earlier events. On September 8, 2017, the album was released.
In promotion of the record, a North American and European tour has been confirmed for autumn 2017. Phil MacIsaac departed the music profession in 2016 to pursue a career in graphic design, and he was replaced by Sheridan Ripley. In September 2017, a second UK tour for spring 2018 was confirmed.
A male audience member went on stage and attempted to kiss singer Molly Rankin on September 16, 2017 at a gig in Antwerp. The director of the show's venue, Trix, Ken Veerman, apologized on Facebook.
In 2018, the band was nominated for a SOCAN Songwriting Prize for the song "Dreams Tonite," while Antisocialites was nominated for the 2018 Polaris Music Prize.
Alvvays was nominated for Group of the Year at the 2018 Juno Awards, while Antisocialites won the Juno Award for Alternative Album of the Year.
The music press and its members have labeled Alvvays' music as jangle pop. The band's emphasis, according to Rankin, is mostly on great melodies rather than a specific genre.
Rankin stated that she shared vocalist Tracyanne Campbell's "fondness for the pitiful outlook."
Stephin Merritt, vocalist of the Magnetic Fields, inspired Rankin, who admired his lyrics' honesty while being cheerful.
The Magnetic Fields, Teenage Fanclub, Dolly Mixture, the Smiths, Celine Dion, Pavement, the Primitives, and Oasis are among Rankin's personal inspirations.
While the band does not have an overt Celtic music feel, Rankin admits that she was raised in the genre and that it has an impact on the way she sings and develops songs.
